Mexican universities announce academic and administrative updates

Several Mexican universities are announcing new academic and administrative developments. The Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila (UAdeC) has opened a call for new talent to join its Folkloric Ballet, offering training in technical and physical skills to students regardless of prior experience.

At the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx), five candidates—Abraham Hernández Villalobos, David Orihuela Huerta, Dulce Karina Mendieta Díaz, Laura Verónica Reyes Gómez, and Renata Nayeli Cuevas Villa—have registered to run for the Directorship of the Faculty of Accounting and Administration for the 2026-2030 term. The selection process includes a quantitative evaluation of their work programs and is expected to conclude on August 25.

Meanwhile, the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH) is advancing a project to establish an Institute of Data Science. Rector Octavio Castillo Acosta stated the proposal is currently with the University Council's Academic Affairs Commission. This initiative aims to address growing interest in data science and cybersecurity, potentially including a new degree in Artificial Intelligence.
