UAEMéx Faculty of Medicine announces four candidates for directorship

Four candidates have officially registered to compete for the directorship of the Faculty of Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx) for the 2026-2030 term. The candidates are Azael Felipe Velázquez Rodríguez, Gerardo Huitrón Aparicio, Virgilio Eduardo Trujillo Condes, and Beatriz Elina Martínez Carrillo.

On Monday, October 19, 2026, the aspirants presented their work plans to the university community, including students, faculty, and administrative staff, at the “Generación 74” Auditorium. The presentation format allowed each candidate 60 minutes, consisting of a 30-minute proposal exposition followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session involving different university sectors.

The election process follows the exclusion of Catalina Miranda Saucedo, whose participation was rejected by the Electoral Processes Commission due to requirements regarding continuous academic service. Meanwhile, the outgoing director, Hugo Mendieta Zerón, highlighted infrastructure improvements made during his administration, such as the renovation of the degree processing area and the staff dining room.
