UAEMéx honors poet Horacio Zúñiga 70 years after his death

The Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx) held a solemn ceremony to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the death of Horacio Salvador Zúñiga Anaya. The event, attended by Rector Martha Patricia Zarza Delgado and members of the university community, honored Zúñiga Anaya as a significant poet, educator, and journalist.

Zúñiga Anaya is recognized for his profound impact on the intellectual history of the State of Mexico and his connection to the Instituto Científico y Literario, the predecessor of UAEMéx. A notable part of his enduring legacy is the authorship of the lyrics for the university’s institutional hymn, which serves as a symbol of identity for the academic community.

During the tribute, university officials emphasized the importance of preserving the collective memory and cultural heritage of figures who shaped the institution’s history and humanistic values.
