UAEMéx hosts academic forum on audience rights and media
The Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx) hosted an academic forum titled ‘The rights of the audiences, citizen participation and the democratic advance in Mexico’. The event, held at the Center for Social Science and Humanities Research Auditorium, brought together specialists to analyze the challenges and implications of audience protection and the right to information.
Participants discussed the public consultation regarding the General Guidelines for the Protection of Audience Rights issued by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT). Key topics included the right to truthful, plural, and inclusive information, freedom of expression, and the ability of audiences to provide feedback on media content. Experts highlighted the importance of mechanisms such as audience ombudsmen and ethical codes to allow citizens to play an active and critical role in media consumption.
