UAEMéx hosts aerial dance exhibition to promote physical activity

The Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMéx) held an aerial dance exhibition at the Soraya Jiménez Mendívil Gymnasium. Under the direction of coach Renata García Sánchez, students performed routines on aerial silks that combine strength, flexibility, and body control.

The discipline incorporates yoga principles and requires significant physical conditioning, specifically targeting the arms, abdomen, and legs, as well as breath control for stability. While the exhibition featured experienced competitive students, the university noted that the sport is open to all members of the academic community, including men, regardless of experience level.

Coach García Sánchez emphasized that expanding sports options is vital for promoting physical activity and healthy habits within the university. To support these goals, the institution also provides nutritional counseling to its students. A subsequent exhibition is planned for October 30, featuring participants of various skill levels.
