UAEMéx launches first participatory budget and seeks state collaboration

The Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx) has launched its first Participatory Budget exercise. For the 2026 cycle, the institution has allocated 55 million pesos to be distributed among academic spaces based on community votes. Students, faculty, and administrative staff can vote via the Ágora Digital TUAEMéx platform between August 11 and August 26, 2026. The funds are designated for common benefit projects, specifically for the acquisition of movable goods and the maintenance or improvement of academic facilities.

During the start of the 2026-2027 school year, Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez addressed more than 100,000 students, calling for the university to apply its research and professional training to solve regional issues. She proposed increased coordination between the state government and the university to tackle challenges such as violence against women, mental health, water management, and animal protection.
