UAEMéx University Council approves bicentennial plans and new leadership

The University Council of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx) has approved several measures to strengthen university life. A key decision was the creation of an Organizing Committee to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Instituto Literario. This committee will coordinate academic, research, cultural, sporting, and technological activities for the bicentennial celebration.

The Council also appointed new leaders for three university centers: Gerardo Arturo Ávila Vilchis for Tianguistenco, María Guadalupe Aco Palestina for Valle de Teotihuacán, and Leticia Arévalo Cedillo for Texcoco. Notably, the appointment in Tianguistenco was the first to result from a democratic process.

Additional actions included authorizing new academic training proposals, institutional development plans, and strengthening the operations of the Center for Attention, Training, and Research in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy (CACIFTO). The Council also reviewed details regarding the 2026 State of Mexico International Book Fair (FILEM).
