The state‑owned Etihad Rail launched its first passenger trains on June 30, operating a high‑speed service between Abu Dhabi and the eastern port city of Fujairah. The inaugural fleet consists of 13 CAF‑built trains capable of 200 km/h, with a full network of 11 emirates slated for completion by 2027.

Ticketing details were released alongside the launch. Adult fares are offered at a 50 % discount for the opening period, with Comfort class seats starting at Dh 55 and Premium class at Dh 120. Children under 17 receive a further 50 % discount, infants under two travel free on an adult’s lap, and seniors over 60 pay 20 % less than the standard price, subject to ID verification. The charter also outlines cancellation and refund rules: Saver tickets are non‑refundable, Value tickets allow unlimited date changes up to 72 hours before departure, and Flex tickets permit unlimited changes up to 30 minutes after departure, with refunds available for cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance.
