UAFA announces support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino

The Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA) has announced its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino following its 81st board meeting in Jeddah. Representing 22 Arab football associations, the UAFA praised FIFA’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with national, regional, and continental authorities, stating that Infantino has ‘strengthened unity across the entire global football community.’

This endorsement follows similar support from the Gulf Football Federation. Infantino, who is seeking re-election in March, faces increasing challenges. While several Arab nations, including co-hosts of the 2030 World Cup Qatar and Morocco, previously declared support, recent developments have seen opposition grow. The Swiss Football Association recently withdrew its support for his re-election, and UEFA has committed to presenting a rival candidate before its November deadline.
