UAP challenges new healthcare tariff schemes in Italy

The National Union of Private Clinics, Polyclinics, Entities, and Hospitals (UAP) has announced a press conference for September 9, 2026, in Rome to address concerns regarding new healthcare tariff schemes.

UAP President Mariastella Giorlandino is calling on Health Minister Orazio Schillaci to review the data and methodology used to determine service costs. The association is questioning whether the new tariffs reflect the actual costs of providing medical services or rely on aggregated values.

UAP expressed concerns that insufficient reimbursement could lead to reduced service availability, longer waiting times, and increased regional disparities. The association is also seeking clarification on why laboratories performing fewer than 200,000 annual services were excluded from the analysis.
