UAP demands updated healthcare tariffs to protect Italian medical services

The Unione Nazionale Ambulatori, Poliambulatori, Enti e Ospedalità Privata (UAP) is calling for an urgent revision of healthcare tariffs in Italy. UAP President Mariastella Giorlandino stated that private accredited healthcare is an integral part of the National Health Service (SSN) and requires stable, updated, and sustainable remuneration to ensure service quality and citizen protection.

UAP reports that despite recent updates, approximately 85.7% of analyzed tariffs are lower than they would have been if only inflation-based revaluation had been applied. The association is demanding that the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Health implement immediate Istat-based adjustments to reflect real costs and protect both workers and patients.

Simultaneously, other sectors of the Italian healthcare system face challenges. General practitioners have announced strikes over agreements regarding Community Houses, and regional hospitals, such as Agropoli, are struggling with medical staff shortages to fully activate emergency services. Additionally, professional associations like Aiop and Aris have noted that hospital service tariffs have remained stagnant since 2012, eroding the sustainability of private-sector contributions to the public system.
