UASD presents new legal work on constitutional control
The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) has released a new legal work titled ‘Constitutional control and supervening unconstitutionality: publication and validity of laws in the Dominican legal system’. The book was presented at the UASD stand during the XXVIII Santo Domingo International Book Fair at the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte.
Authored by lawyer and university professor Smerly Rodríguez Jiménez, the work examines the validity of legal norms in the face of constitutional, institutional, and social changes within the Dominican legal framework. A central theme is ‘supervening unconstitutionality’, which refers to norms that remain formally valid but require review due to changes in the prevailing constitutional framework. The research also covers models of constitutional justice and methods of concentrated and diffuse control.
The prologue was written by Trajano Vidal Potentini, president of the Bar Association of the Dominican Republic, who highlighted the academic value of the publication and the role of UASD in generating legal thought.
