UAT joins national initiative for safer digital environments

The Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT), Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, participated in the Northeast Regional Forum titled “Life in front of the screen: the impact of digital devices on Mexican childhoods, adolescence, and youth.” The event was held at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) and convened by the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) and ANUIES.

The forum aimed to foster efforts toward creating safer and more integral digital environments. Key attendees included SEP head Mario Delgado Carrillo, Nuevo León Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda, and UNESCO representative Andrés Morales. Representatives from higher education institutions across Tamaulipas, Coahuila, San Luis Potosí, Durango, Zacatecas, and Nuevo León were also present.

Dámaso Anaya positioned the UAT as a key actor in national educational transformation, emphasizing that higher education must lead in forming ethical, conscious, and critical digital citizens. He reaffirmed the university's commitment to collaborating with federal and state governments, as well as international organizations, to promote digital literacy models and public policies that protect the mental health of young people.
