UAT student wins silver medal in Malaysia for agricultural radar

Christopher Jeremy Arriaga Rodríguez, an electronics engineering student at the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT), won a silver medal at the World Invention Competition and Exhibition (WICE 2026) in Malaysia.

His project, titled “Easy-Detect: Innovative & Accessible Agricultural Radar,” was recognized in the Applied Physics and Engineering category. Developed at the UAM Reynosa-Rodhe Antennas and Radiofrequency Laboratory, the technology is a high-precision, low-cost radar designed to identify weeds in crops to optimize resources and increase agro-industrial productivity.

Arriaga Rodríguez secured his place in the international competition after participating in the ExpoCiencias Nacional Tamaulipas 2025.
