UAT students win national award for AI-based accounting system

Students from the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) secured second place nationally in the Intermediate Technology category at the XX ANFECA National Entrepreneurship Expo 2026 in Nayarit. The award-winning project, named CHUDBI, is an artificial intelligence system designed to automate and simplify fiscal and accounting tasks for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.

The multidisciplinary team includes accounting students Jennyfer Edith López Guevara, Jared Jethzalin Piloto Barrón, and José Alfredo Castañeda Meléndez, alongside information technology student Héctor Antonio Jaramillo Montantes. Under the guidance of instructor Luis Eduardo Jiménez Etienne, the team developed a tool that utilizes local AI, allowing it to operate without relying on cloud-hosted commercial platforms.

CHUDBI enables users to issue electronic invoices, manage XML files, and record operations directly without accessing the Tax Administration Service (SAT) portal. The technology has already been tested in real-world settings, such as fruit shops and family businesses, to evaluate its operational mobility and billing processes.
