Ubah Ali departs WCCO-TV after three years

Ubah Ali, a reporter for WCCO-TV, has announced her departure from the Twin Cities newsroom after three years as a reporter. Ali, who previously interned at the station in 2017, stated on social media that she is leaving with gratitude for the lessons and stories she gathered during her tenure.

Ali made history in Minnesota as the first Somali-American television reporter in the Twin Cities. A graduate of St. Cloud State University with a degree in Mass Communications, she grew up in Rochester after her family immigrated to the United States from Kenya. She indicated that her next professional steps will be announced soon.
