Goiânia celebrates 93rd anniversary with cultural festivals and infrastructure investments

Goiânia marks its 93rd anniversary with a diverse program of cultural, sporting, and economic milestones. The city is hosting the Viva Goiânia Festival, which features free public events including music performances by artists such as Seu Jorge and Murilo Huff, street dance, rap battles, and sports competitions like boxing and table tennis in the city center.

Economically, Goiânia remains the largest economy in the state of Goiás, with a GDP of R$75.8 billion in 2023, accounting for 22.5% of the state's total wealth. The capital also serves as a significant hub for the fashion industry, evolving from local manufacturing to a recognized regional fashion center.

To support future growth, Governor Daniel Vilela highlighted state investments totaling R$3.8 billion. These funds are directed toward public transportation modernization, healthcare infrastructure—including the new Oncology Reference Complex (Cora)—and public safety, aiming to prepare the city for its centenary in 2033.
