Ubatuba Launches Registry for Residents with Disabilities

The municipality of Ubatuba, Brazil, has started a digital Cadastro da Pessoa com Deficiência (Disability Registry) to collect data on residents with disabilities. The form, available online and via QR code, gathers information on geographic distribution, main needs and service demands.

The initiative is driven by the Secretariat of Defense of Women’s Rights and Persons with Disabilities, led by Secretary Simone Brito. Collected data will support planning, implementation and monitoring of inclusion policies across health, education, social assistance, urban mobility, transport and accessibility, and will help prioritize resource allocation. The effort aligns with a statewide trend, as São Paulo’s Observatório dos Direitos da Pessoa com Deficiência already compiles data for 645 municipalities, noting roughly 3.3 million people with disabilities in the state.
