Local authorities are preparing for the 2026/2027 summer season by coordinating with Civil Defense and various police forces to mitigate risks from El Niño, specifically targeting areas prone to flooding and landslides.

In the health sector, the Municipal Health Secretariat is urging residents to unblock official WhatsApp contact numbers. This follows reports of citizens fearing scams, which has led to a high rate of missed appointments. In September 2026, the municipality recorded over 4,500 missed consultations, representing a 17.15% absenteeism rate.

Additionally, heavy rainfall has forced the cancellation of the 2026 Recreational Education Games (JORE) scheduled for October 22 and 23. The cancellation aims to ensure student safety and allow for field recovery. Meanwhile, the Youth Secretariat has opened 40 spots for a free English for Reception course to support professional development in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
