Ubatuba Secretariat of Urbanism intensifies construction inspections

The Ubatuba Secretariat of Urbanism has announced an intensification of inspections regarding residential, industrial, and commercial constructions across the municipality's 723 km² territory. The inspection team, consisting of seven inspectors and two coordinators, is tasked with monitoring compliance with the city's Master Plan and sidewalk laws.

Much of Ubatuba's territory is located within protected areas, such as the Serra do Mar State Park or permanent preservation zones. The secretariat reported that most infractions are identified within irregular housing clusters.

In cases of non-compliance, authorities issue summonses. Failure to rectify irregularities can result in fines ranging from R$10.6 thousand to R$52 thousand, with penalties doubled for repeat offenders. Punishments may also include administrative demolition.
