Ubatuba to host 18th Caiçarada Popular Culture Festival

The 18th Caiçarada Popular Culture Festival is scheduled to take place at Cruzeiro Beach in Ubatuba from August 28 to 30. Organized by the Fundação de Arte e Cultura de Ubatuba (Fundart), the event celebrates local traditions through various activities.

Key attractions include the 'João Alegre' Viola Festival, a tribute to traditional sertaneja music, and a canoe race held on Sunday, August 30. The race features nine categories, including male and female divisions and different canoe types, with open-sea courses ranging from 1km to 1.5km. Registration for the race is free.

The festival will also feature cultural performances such as fandango, maracatu, jongo, samba de roda, and congada. Visitors can experience a live demonstration of 'Casa Caiçara' construction and enjoy local gastronomy, specifically roasted mullet (tainha).
