Ubatuba to host oil spill contingency training near Ilha das Cabras

Specialized teams will conduct contingency training near Ilha das Cabras in Ubatuba on Wednesday, the 19th. The exercise is designed to prepare personnel for potential oil spill scenarios in the region.

The training will take place within the Tupinambás Ecological Station, managed by ICMBio, and the Marine Environmental Protection Area of the North Coast, administered by Fundação Florestal. Participants will use vessels, contingency equipment, and drones to practice oil recovery techniques.

Guilherme Farhat, head of the Environmental Management Section of the Secretariat of the Environment, emphasized that the activity is strictly for training purposes and will not involve the release of any substances into the marine environment. The Maritime Authority is expected to issue a notice to mariners regarding the scheduled movement in the area.
