Ubatuba youth begin practical sailing training
Students from the Escolinha de Vela, part of the Pequenos Navegantes project in Ubatuba, have begun the second phase of their training with practical sailing lessons at sea. Following an initial theoretical block at the Fundac headquarters, participants are now practicing navigation, vessel handling, sail adjustment, and wind perception using two sailboats near the coast.
The program is a partnership between the Fundação da Criança e do Adolescente de Ubatuba (Fundac) and the Associação de Velejadores de Ubatuba (AVU). Beyond nautical skills, the workshop aims to provide pre-curricular preparation for the labor market, specifically targeting sectors such as maritime tourism and vessel service.
Fundac president Alendri Marconi noted that the initiative connects the private sector with the community to meet the growing demands of domestic tourism while promoting citizenship. The project intends to continue through the end of the year, with plans to form new classes by 2027.
