Shrimp Festival and Quilombo Arraiá draw crowds in Ubatuba, Brazil

The 31st edition of the Festival do Camarão took place on Almada Beach in Ubatuba from July 23 to 26. Organized by the Associação de Moradores da Almada (AMA) with support from the municipal tourism department and the Fundação de Arte e Cultura (FundArt), the event expected around 10,000 visitors. Traditional caiçara dishes featuring shrimp were served, including a new "Camarao no Abacaxi" alongside moqueca, bobó, and shrimp in moranga. The beachfront venue also hosted musical performances, cultural displays, a crafts fair, and environmental education activities.

Meanwhile, the 27th Festival do Camarão in Caraguatatuba continued through July 26 with free culinary and artistic programming at the Praça da Cultura. More than 25 local music acts performed, and a traditional canoe race concluded the festivities.

From July 24 to 26, the Arraiá do Quilombo da Caçandoca was held on Caçandoca Beach, marking its fifth edition. Organized by the local quilombo community with backing from FundArt and the municipal tourism office, the event featured live music, regional foods, craft stalls, and prize draws for attendees, highlighting quilombola and caiçara cultural heritage.
