UBCO Heat men's basketball team adds three Kelowna locals

Three Kelowna high‑school basketball players – guards Tarun Saroya and Cole Coop and forward Wil Zylyk – will join the UBCO Heat men’s team for the upcoming Canada West season. Head coach Clay Pottinger said the recruits chose UBCO over other options, calling it a major win for the program.

Saroya previously played at Erie Prep Academy in Pennsylvania and earned Ohio Prep Conference MVP honors. Coop transferred from Briercrest College, while Zylyk spent two seasons with the Ottawa Gee‑Gees and helped them win an OUA championship. With their addition, the Heat roster now includes eight players who grew up in the Okanagan region.
