UBEC recommends Delta State’s teacher tracking system for nationwide use
The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has identified Delta State’s Attend360 technology-driven teacher attendance tracking system as a model for nationwide adoption in Nigeria. Aisha Garba, Executive Secretary of UBEC, stated that the platform addresses critical challenges in teacher accountability and classroom presence, which are essential for quality learning.
During a meeting in Asaba, UBEC officials commended Delta State for its progress in accessing Universal Basic Education (UBE) matching grants through 2025. Delta State Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme reported that the state has implemented approximately 90 per cent of its 2025 Action Plan and has already received its 2026 matching grant.
UBEC urged all states to fully utilize available funds and implement approved programs to ensure investments translate into improved infrastructure and learning outcomes. Additionally, the commission encouraged states to participate in the World Bank-supported HOPE Education Programme, which has up to $500 million earmarked for education. To qualify, states must access their 2026 matching grants and implement at least 50 per cent of their 2025 Action Plans.
