UBEC urges stakeholders to implement HOPE-EDU Programme
Dr. Aisha Garba, Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has called on education stakeholders to strengthen the implementation of the HOPE-EDU Programme to enhance basic education learning outcomes. Speaking at a regional workshop in Ikeja for State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) directors from the South-West and North-Central zones, Garba emphasized the importance of improving literacy and numeracy skills for Nigerian children.
The workshop focuses on the Structured Pedagogy Package and the development of book supply chain systems. Supported by the Federal Government and the World Bank, the initiative aims to use evidence-based approaches for teacher training and learning evaluations. Additionally, a Track and Trace System will be implemented to ensure learning materials reach schools with transparency and accountability.
States are required to demonstrate readiness by November 15 to qualify for the first round of programme disbursements.
