Uber driver accused of harassing student in Bengaluru

An 18-year-old student in Bengaluru has filed a police complaint against an Uber driver, identified as 28-year-old Mohammed Waseem, for alleged sexual harassment.

The victim reported that while she was traveling to her grandmother’s house early Sunday morning, she fell asleep in the vehicle. She woke up to find the driver hugging and kissing her on the lips. According to the complaint, the driver allegedly locked the car doors and continued driving when she attempted to exit, only stopping after she screamed and banged on the window. The driver reportedly drove away with her luggage, though it was later returned by his associates.

Konanakunte police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) regarding sexual harassment. Authorities stated they are working to detain the driver.
