Uber Eats reaches labor agreement for 8,000 delivery workers in Spain

The Spanish trade union CCOO has reached an agreement with Uber Eats, Quinde Crew, and Closer Logistics to improve labor conditions for more than 8,000 delivery workers. The pact follows Uber Eats' decision to transfer its delivery division to Quinde Crew.

Key components of the agreement include the transition of approximately 4,300 workers to Quinde Crew as employees, with the incorporation of 4,286 self-employed riders scheduled for November 30. Additionally, the agreement provides for wage increases for over 4,000 workers at Closer Logistics, which operates exclusively for Uber Eats. These raises will be implemented through progressive increments every four months over a maximum period of one year.

A monitoring commission has been established to oversee compliance with these commitments for the next three years. Furthermore, a permanent dialogue table will be created to address employment evolution, wages, working hours, and algorithmic management of labor. Both unions and the companies have called for the urgent negotiation of a sectoral collective agreement to standardize working conditions across the industry.
