Uber Freight investigates cyberattack following claims by Helix group

Uber Freight is investigating a data security incident involving unauthorized access to portions of its systems and repositories. A spokesperson for the company stated that the incident has been “identified, contained and remediated” and that the company has engaged federal law enforcement.

The hacking group known as “Helix” has claimed responsibility for the attack, alleging the theft of nearly 1 million files, including email accounts, cloud archives, accounting files, and shipping documents. While the company reported that there has been “no impact to Uber Freight’s business operations,” which continue without disruption, it did not comment on the authenticity of the stolen data or whether any interaction occurred with the hackers.

Google Threat Intelligence has linked Helix to a broader collective, tracked as UNC6671, which has been involved in significant extortion attempts targeting various major companies and financial institutions. This incident follows a pattern of increased cyberattacks targeting the logistics and transportation sectors.
