Uber Japan launches 99% discount campaign for new taxi users

Uber Japan has launched a nationwide campaign offering a 99% discount on Uber Taxi and Uber Premium rides for new users. The promotion, titled the ‘Exaggerated Discount’ campaign, applies to the first three rides for eligible customers, with a maximum discount of 3,000 yen per ride.

The campaign runs from September 18 through October 24 across all areas in Japan where Uber Taxi or Uber Premium services are available. The initiative aims to encourage people who may hesitate to use taxi services due to rising costs to experience the ride-hailing app.

To support the launch, Uber has released a series of advertisements featuring comedian Hollywood Zakoshisho. The ads utilize a concept called ‘Zakoshification,’ depicting everyday scenarios like after-work shifts or social gatherings where users react with exaggerated surprise to the deep discounts.
