Uber to acquire ezCater for $2.3 billion to expand catering

Uber Technologies has agreed to acquire ezCater, a leading U.S. workplace catering platform, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $2.3 billion. The deal aims to expand Uber Eats into the business-to-business (B2B) sector, focusing on large-scale corporate catering, meetings, and office events.

ezCater currently partners with over 140,000 restaurants and serves a significant portion of Fortune 500 companies. The platform generated more than $2.5 billion in gross bookings over the last 12 months, with average order values exceeding $400. Uber expects the acquisition to be margin accretive and to provide higher-value order opportunities for both restaurants and delivery couriers.

By integrating ezCater’s expertise with Uber Eats’ global consumer network and Uber for Business’s corporate relationships, the company seeks to capture the growing demand for workplace food services and hybrid office catering. The transaction is expected to close in the coming months, subject to regulatory approvals.
