Mercado Central de Belo Horizonte to invest R$ 2.5 million in infrastructure
The Mercado Central de Belo Horizonte will undergo a R$ 2.5 million infrastructure modernization project, specifically targeting its electrical network. This investment aims to support the growth of the landmark, which houses approximately 400 shops and attracts 15 million visitors.
The upgrades, funded by a credit line from the Banco de Desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais (BDMG) dedicated to the tourism sector, will involve replacing electrical panels and transformers with more powerful models. This is the first major electrical investment in the space in 23 years and is part of a broader plan to prepare the market for its centenary in 2029. Implementation is expected to begin in the first half of 2027.
