Uberlândia formal job market records net loss in July 2026

Uberlândia's formal labor market recorded a net loss of 136 jobs in July 2026, following a period of growth in June. The month saw 12,435 admissions and 12,571 terminations. Despite this monthly decline, the city has maintained a positive cumulative total of 1,981 formal jobs created since the beginning of 2026.

Economic sector performance was mixed. Four out of five sectors reported losses: services (-93), agriculture (-72), construction (-37), and industry (-32). The commerce sector was the sole outlier, recording a net gain of 98 jobs. On a year-to-date basis, construction leads job creation with 1,173 positions, followed by industry (+814) and services (+534).

Business size played a significant role in the results. Micro-entrepreneurs (MEIs) and micro-enterprises were the primary drivers of growth, adding 418 jobs in July. Conversely, small, medium, and large companies all saw net losses. Demographically, job creation was concentrated among younger workers, specifically those aged 18 to 24 (+230) and those aged 17 or younger (+119).
