Uber confirms four-passenger limit for UberX in Romania

Uber announced that its UberX service in Romania is officially limited to transporting up to four passengers, as stated in the app and on the company website. The clarification follows numerous user complaints that some drivers refuse rides when a group includes four people, citing reasons such as the front seat being occupied by luggage or personal rules.

Uber emphasized that drivers are independent partners who must obey platform standards; refusals that breach the four‑passenger rule may lead to disciplinary measures. The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) is reviewing the complaints and has indicated it will carry out checks on the ride‑sharing market. Consumers are advised to report any refusal directly through the app and to rate the ride, providing evidence such as screenshots or payment details if needed.
