Ubisoft and Proof of Play close Web3 games amid Bitcoin key‑generation security concerns

French game publisher Ubisoft confirmed that its Web3 title Champions Tactics will shut down permanently, with servers scheduled to go offline on 30 October after the game failed to build a sustainable player community. The closure follows the earlier exit of Proof of Play, a Web3 gaming studio that announced it is ceasing operations despite having raised $33 million in seed funding; the company will release its code and artwork to the public.

The U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control also added the NFT firm Home DMCC to its sanctions list, citing alleged links to a money‑laundering network.

Separately, researchers highlighted a vulnerability in the Coldcard hardware wallet, showing that weak randomness in the key‑generation process can produce compromised private keys. The finding shifts the focus of Bitcoin security from offline storage to the integrity of the key‑creation mechanism itself.
