Ubisoft announces full remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag for 2026

Ubisoft confirmed that it will release a full remake of the 2013 pirate‑action game Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, titled “Black Flag Resynced.” The remake will be rebuilt on the latest version of Ubisoft’s Anvil engine by Ubisoft Singapore and is scheduled for launch on 9 July 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Resynced will feature a visual overhaul with ray‑traced lighting, global illumination, upgraded water simulation and higher‑resolution assets, aiming for 60 fps on consoles and a range of PC graphics options. Gameplay changes include revised combat, stealth and parkour mechanics, a reworked mission structure, new accessibility options, and some narrative adjustments, while the multiplayer mode and the “Freedom Cry” expansion have been omitted. Early preview footage has generated mixed reactions from fans, who praise the upgraded visuals but express concern about possible loss of the original’s atmosphere.

The remake will be marketed as a faithful yet modernized version of Edward Kenway’s Caribbean adventure, retaining the core story while enhancing technical and gameplay aspects.
