Ubisoft announces Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake for 2027

Ubisoft has announced a full remake of the 1999 strategy classic, Heroes of Might and Magic III, scheduled for release in 2027. Unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live, the project is being developed using the Snowdrop engine by Ubisoft studios in Chengdu, Shanghai, Paris, and Montpellier.

The remake will transition the game from its traditional 2D isometric perspective to a fully 3D environment with a free camera, supporting 4K resolution, dynamic lighting, and real-time weather effects. While the visual overhaul is significant, Ubisoft intends to maintain the core turn-based gameplay, RPG hero progression, and tactical combat that defined the original.

The package will include the base game and both major expansions, ‘Armageddon’s Blade’ and ‘The Shadow of Death,’ featuring all nine original factions. New content will include a prologue campaign, an epilogue, and cinematic scenes to connect the narrative. The title will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Recent attempts to release the original title on Steam faced criticism after Ubisoft initially uploaded a version missing the necessary game files, resulting in an installation size of only 23.49 KB. This issue has since been resolved. Additionally, the remake aims to maintain compatibility with thousands of existing community-created maps and mods.
