Ubisoft cuts 380 jobs and shuts Winnipeg studio amid restructuring

Ubisoft announced a new wave of layoffs that will affect 380 employees across several of its locations. The cuts include the closure of the Winnipeg studio, which employed about 85 staff, and the shutdown of its Belgrade studio. In Barcelona, 51 workers – roughly 28% of the local team – were also let go. Additional reductions target 120 employees working on Rainbow Six Siege and 50 on Rainbow Six Mobile, bringing the total to 380 job losses.

The layoffs are part of a broader restructuring effort that follows a reported loss of €1.3 billion in the company’s last fiscal year. Ubisoft has previously cancelled six projects and is focusing its resources on its flagship live‑service franchises such as Rainbow Six Siege, Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. The closure of the Winnipeg studio, which provided engine support, and the Belgrade office, which contributed to titles like Steep and The Crew 2, underscores the shift toward concentrating development on revenue‑generating IP.
