Ubisoft Milan's Zelda spin-off project rejected by Nintendo
Ubisoft Milan reportedly developed a pitch for a The Legend of Zelda spin-off titled ‘Goliath’ that was ultimately rejected by Nintendo. According to reports, the studio proposed a game featuring a new, unknown protagonist. While Nintendo approved the concept, they requested that the series' antagonist, Ganondorf, be the lead character instead.
The collaboration between Nintendo and Ubisoft Milan reportedly dissolved following this disagreement. The cancellation of this ambitious project is cited as a primary reason for several key developers, including Gian Marco Zanna, Davide Soliani, and Cristina Nava, leaving Ubisoft to found their own studio, Day 4 Night.
Efforts to pitch other collaborative ideas, such as Star Fox or Mario projects, were also unsuccessful. Ubisoft has declined to comment on the speculation, and Nintendo has not issued a response.
