Ubisoft Mobile Barcelona workers strike over remote work ban

Workers at Ubisoft Mobile Barcelona have launched an indefinite strike to protest the company’s decision to mandate full-time in-office presence. The CGT union has organized the strike to occur for six days each month—three days every two weeks—beginning in September 2026.

The dispute centers on Ubisoft’s plan to eliminate remote work starting in January 2027. While the company originally intended to implement this change in October 2026, the deadline has been pushed to early 2027. Labor representatives claim the decision was made unilaterally without negotiating with the works council or union sections.

This follows a previous reduction in remote work days in 2024, when teleworking was cut from three days to two per week. The CGT has filed a complaint regarding these labor conditions, which is currently being reviewed by the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC). Management has stated that the return to the office is intended to foster creativity and production.
