Ubisoft releases Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remastered on PS5 as it warns of risks from prolonged game development

Ubisoft has launched a remastered version of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, titled “Resynced”, for PlayStation 5. The update features modern graphics, enhanced gameplay, and minor storyline adjustments while retaining the original setting of early‑18th‑century Caribbean piracy under protagonist Edward Kenway. The release comes as part of Ubisoft’s effort to bring classic titles to current‑generation consoles after earlier planned remakes were cancelled.

In its latest annual report, Ubisoft highlighted the commercial dangers of excessively delayed game releases, citing projects with unusually long development periods such as Beyond Good & Evil 2 and others. The company warned that prolonged timelines can erode market expectations and impede a title’s success, emphasizing the importance of timely launches for AAA titles.
