Ubisoft rolls out final Assassin's Creed Shadows patch and announces major layoffs

Ubisoft confirmed that the final update for Assassin's Creed Shadows will be released on 16 June. The patch targets bug fixes, combat‑AI improvements, performance enhancements for next‑generation PCs and consoles, and adds a concluding “Animus Nexus” challenge. Embedded within the update are new code references labelled “Resynced,” which industry analysts interpret as a teaser for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced remake.

In parallel, Ubisoft disclosed a restructuring plan that will close its Winnipeg (Canada) and Belgrade (Serbia) studios and result in up to 380 job cuts. The layoffs include roughly 65 staff in Winnipeg, about 100 in Belgrade, 51 at the Barcelona studio and additional reductions across other divisions. Ubisoft said the moves are intended to simplify operations, reduce costs and refocus resources on core franchises such as Rainbow Six.
