Ubisoft releases new Black Flag Resynced cutscene featuring Edward and Caroline

Ubisoft has fully overhauled Assassin's Creed Black Flag using the Ubisoft Anvil engine, adding major combat and gameplay changes alongside a story revamp. Lead writer of the original, Darby McDevitt, returned as a consultant and created three new cinematic cutscenes that deepen the relationship between Edward Kenway and his wife Caroline. The first of these scenes – an exclusive reveal – shows a drunken Edward with his father‑in‑law, highlighting his devotion and the emotional stakes of his marriage.

McDevitt explained that the new material aims to show the “sweet side” of Edward, portraying the challenges of long sea voyages and the desire to provide for a spouse from a higher social class. This narrative expansion is intended to give players a fresh perspective on the character and his motivations.
