Ubisoft to close Winnipeg and Belgrade studios, cut up to 380 jobs

Ubisoft announced a new phase of its "major reset" restructuring, which includes the permanent closure of its Winnipeg studio in Canada and its Belgrade studio in Serbia. The Winnipeg office, founded in 2018, employed roughly 65‑100 staff focused on engine technology, while the Belgrade studio, operating since 2016, had about 100 employees working on titles such as The Crew 2, Rainbow Six and Skull & Bones.

The company also said its Barcelona studio will be reorganised to work exclusively on the Rainbow Six franchise, with 51 staff slated for layoffs. Additional reductions are planned across the Global Publishing division, and further cuts have been reported at Ubisoft’s San Francisco, Toronto and Paris locations. Ubisoft estimates that up to 380 positions could be affected in total.

These moves are part of a €200 million cost‑saving programme over the next two years and follow earlier actions this year that saw the cancellation of at least six games, the postponement of seven others, and layoffs at other Ubisoft studios such as Red Storm Entertainment.
