Ubisoft trims more than 1,200 jobs amid ongoing restructuring

Ubisoft reported that its workforce fell by over 1,200 employees in the fiscal year that ended on 31 March 2026, leaving the company with 16,590 staff worldwide – the lowest level it has had in several years. The reduction reflects a broader cost‑cutting programme that began in 2022‑23, which has already lowered fixed costs by about €325 million (roughly 18%).

The firm said the programme will continue, targeting a fixed‑cost base of €1.25 billion by March 2028 and may involve selling assets. The restructuring has driven the cancellation of several games, the closure of studios such as Red Storm Entertainment, and the implementation of a mandatory five‑day‑a‑week office return policy, which sparked an international strike involving more than 1,200 workers in France and Italy.

Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot described the period as a “decisive year” and one of the most ambitious transformations in the company’s history, indicating that further workforce adjustments are expected in the next fiscal cycle.
