Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake Sells Over 3 Million Copies in First Week

Ubisoft reported that the newly rebuilt remake **Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced** sold more than three million copies within its first week of release, with two million units sold on day one. The game launched on 9 July 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and quickly became the best‑selling launch in the series on Steam.

Game director Richard Knight confirmed that the studio is working on post‑launch updates, including a New Game Plus mode, bug fixes and quality‑of‑life improvements. He explained that the original 2013 codebase could not be reused, necessitating a rebuild from scratch on the latest Anvil engine. Ubisoft also hinted at possible DLC ideas but ruled out a remake of the Freedom Cry expansion.

Knight urged players to keep the title active even when competing releases such as GTA 6 arrive, and said Ubisoft expects to support the game for at least a year. The strong sales performance is seen as a significant revenue boost for the publisher after a period of mixed reception to recent franchise entries.
