Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced sells 3.5 million units in two weeks
Ubisoft released a full remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, titled Black Flag Resynced, on 9 July 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. In the first fourteen days the title shipped 3.5 million copies, surpassing the company’s yearly sales target and setting a new franchise record. The rapid uptake was driven by the game’s updated visuals, faster load times, ray‑traced lighting and enhanced water simulation, while retaining the original’s pirate‑era storyline centred on Edward Kenway.
The commercial success has been highlighted by Ubisoft executives as proof that remakes can be more profitable than brand‑new titles, thanks to lower development and marketing costs. CFO Frederick Duguet cited the strong margins of Black Flag Resynced, and CEO Yves Guillemot called the launch “encouraging” for the company’s ongoing transformation. Fan reaction has also been positive, with discussions online urging Ubisoft to develop a true sequel that expands the naval exploration and Assassin‑Templar conflict introduced in the original game.
