Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake Sells 3.5 M Copies in Two Weeks

Ubisoft reported that its remake Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced sold more than 3.5 million copies within the first 14 days of launch, surpassing the company’s full‑year sales forecast. The title opened with 2 million units sold in the first 24 hours, reached 3 million after one week and earned an average score of 84 on both Metacritic and OpenCritic. Strong PC sales were driven especially by the United States and China, and the game became the highest‑rated Assassin’s Creed entry since the original Black Flag. The commercial success provided a rare boost for Ubisoft, whose Q1 net bookings fell 9 % year‑on‑year to €256 million but still slightly exceeded internal guidance. Executives highlighted the profitability of remakes, which combine lower development costs with an established brand, as a cornerstone of the firm’s ongoing transformation despite recent studio closures and staff reductions.
