Ñuble Canal Matriz Ñiquén project reaches 45% completion
The Ministry of Public Works (MOP), through the Hydraulic Works Directorate (DOH), has reached 45% progress on conservation works for the Canal Matriz Ñiquén in the Ñuble region. The project involves an investment of $3,318 million aimed at improving irrigation security for more than 4,000 hectares of agricultural land.
The works include lining 4 kilometers of the canal with reinforced concrete to reduce water loss caused by infiltration and to optimize distribution. Additionally, the project involves replacing eight gates, including three specialized for discharges into the Cachapoal stream, alongside cleaning and excavation tasks. Authorities expect to complete the project by December or January, ahead of the original April 2027 deadline.
